BeePlay
Video Player & Content Monetization
Display pays in paise. Video pays in rupees.
Video carries the highest CPMs in digital advertising, and text publishers are simply locked out of that demand pool. BeePlay puts a lightweight player on your article pages and fills it with contextually matched video from a licensed library — so you can sell video inventory without ever producing a video.

The problem
What this is costing you right now
Text-only sites are locked out of the highest-CPM demand
Brand budgets move to video first.
Original video is expensive, and most publishers cannot make it
A camera, an editor, a studio and a person who can produce three clips a week — that is a second business bolted onto your first one.
YouTube embeds monetize YouTube, not you
Embedding a third-party player hands the ad break, the viewing data and the recommendation surface to a platform that competes with you for the same attention.
How it works
What BeePlay actually does
No black box. Here is the whole mechanism, step by step.
BeePlay — how it works
-
1
A lightweight player embeds in your content
One async tag drops a player into your article template — in-content, or as a floating corner unit. It lazy-initialises, so a reader who never scrolls to it costs you nothing in page weight.
-
2
It plays video matched to the page
The player pulls from a licensed content library — news, cricket, entertainment, devotional, recipes, with Hindi and regional content prioritised — and picks clips that match the page's keywords and category. A cricket article gets cricket video, not a generic tech reel.
-
3
Video ads serve into the break
Pre-roll and mid-roll inventory is filled through BeeBid's video demand path and your Google Ad Manager video line items. This is where the CPM difference lives: the same reader, a different kind of ad slot.
-
4
The player follows the reader — politely
When a reader scrolls past a playing video, it can shrink to a floating corner unit with a visible close button. Dismissible, policy-compliant, and switchable off per template if you would rather it did not.
-
5
The next video is chosen on engagement, not on inventory
Completion and drop-off are tracked per clip. Content that people abandon stops being recommended. A playlist nobody watches generates impressions nobody sees, which is worse than no video at all.
- No filming required licensed library
- Under 50KB player lazy-initialised
- VPAID-free default smaller fraud surface
- Completion quartiles per clip, per placement
In context
Where BeePlay sits on your page
The player sits high in the article, where a reader is still engaged — and the pre-roll is your ad break, not a platform's.
Contextually matched: a cricket article gets cricket video, in Hindi.
Specifications

Player & formats
| Player |
Custom HTML5, <50KB core, lazy-initialised. No autoplay-with-sound ever — muted autoplay or click-to-play, configurable per placement. Sound-on autoplay is the fastest way to lose a reader and a Chrome intervention at the same time.
|
|---|---|
| Formats | Instream (pre-roll and mid-roll), outstream in-content, floating corner unit (dismissible), and vertical/story mode for mobile. |
Ad stack & content
| Ad stack |
VAST 4.x, VPAID-free by default — VPAID executes advertiser JavaScript in your page and is a well-known fraud and performance surface, so it is off unless you explicitly turn it on. Prebid Video through BeeBid, GAM video line items, and an SSAI-ready architecture for server-side stitching later.
|
|---|---|
| Content library | Licensed library partnerships across news, cricket, entertainment, devotional and recipes — Hindi and regional first — plus your own uploads. Contextual matching by page keywords and category. Library composition depends on partner agreements and varies by category. |
| Recommendation | Engagement-based next-video selection using completion quartiles. Low-retention clips are auto-skipped out of rotation rather than left to burn impressions. |
Measurement & controls
| Measurement | Play rate, completion quartiles (25/50/75/100), viewability to the MRC video standard, and revenue per video session — not just per impression. |
|---|---|
| Controls | Frequency capping, per-template placement rules, and brand-safety category filters. You decide which categories may appear next to your journalism. |
| Page weight discipline | The player does not load until a reader approaches it, and its weight counts against the same BeeVitals budget as everything else. Video revenue that costs you Core Web Vitals is not a net gain. |
| Revenue split | Library-sourced video carries a content revenue share with the rights holder; your own uploads do not. The split is shown per video in the dashboard rather than buried in a contract. |
Some capabilities depend on third-party approvals and platform policies that are not ours to promise. Where that is the case, the spec above says so explicitly.

Every number below is an industry benchmark published by a third party. BeeOS has not shipped, so none of these are results we have produced.
Expected site RPM uplift for publishers adding video inventory benchmark 1
Video CPMs run 3–5× display. The range is wide because it depends on how much video is actually watched.

Expected difference
+15–40% site RPM benchmark 1
Driven almost entirely by play rate, which is driven by whether the video actually matches the page.
+15–40%
Site RPM uplift reported by publishers adding video benchmark 1
Wide range because it depends entirely on how much video actually gets watched.
3–5×
Video CPMs versus display CPMs benchmark 2
The whole thesis in one number — same reader, better-paid ad slot.
~$7
Additional RPM per video actually watched, in published partner data benchmark 2
Per video watched — not per pageview. Play rate is the variable that matters.
Being straight with you: Everything here hinges on play rate, and play rate hinges on whether the video is genuinely relevant to what someone is reading. A player that autoplays an unrelated clip gets closed, earns one wasted impression and slightly damages the page. This is why the contextual matching matters more than the ad stack — and why we would rather show video on fewer templates that fit than on every page you have.
