BeeMail

Email Monetization & Identity Layer

Every email address is an asset. Most publishers own none.

An email list is the only audience nobody can take away from you — and it does two jobs at once. It carries its own ad inventory, and it lets buyers recognise your readers in a world where third-party cookies no longer do, which is what an addressable impression is worth paying more for.

The problem

What this is costing you right now

01

Your entire audience is anonymous

You can describe your traffic in pageviews and nothing else.

02

Buyers cannot recognise your readers, so they bid less

Third-party cookies are going or gone, and an impression a buyer cannot connect to anything is priced as an unknown.

03

The newsletter you already send earns nothing

Publishers who do have a list usually send it through a generic tool with no ad slots in it at all.

How it works

What BeeMail actually does

No black box. Here is the whole mechanism, step by step.

BeeMail — how it works

  1. 1

The capture kit grows the list

Six widgets — inline, exit-intent, scroll-triggered, a light content upgrade, topic-follow through BeeEngage, and comment sign-in. Frequency-capped, and A/B testable through BeeLab like anything else on the page.

  2. 2

Consent is recorded, double opt-in is mandatory

Every subscriber confirms, and the consent record is stored with its timestamp and source. A list you cannot prove consent for is a liability, not an asset.

  3. 3

The newsletter carries its own ad slots

An article digest assembles itself from your feed, and each issue has two clearly labelled sponsored slots filled by BeeBid demand or by campaigns you sold directly. One-advertiser takeover mode when you have sold the whole issue.

  4. 4

Recognised readers become an identity signal

When a subscriber is recognised on your site, their email is hashed with SHA-256 and that hash — never the address itself — becomes an identity signal, scoped to the consent they gave.

  5. 5

    Addressable impressions earn more

The hashed identity travels in the BeeBid bidstream, so buyers can recognise the reader and bid accordingly. One dashboard covers list growth, newsletter RPM and the match rate that drives the premium.

Two revenue paths from one list: inventory inside the newsletter, and higher CPMs on the site. The raw email address never leaves your system.
  • Digest builds itself from your own feed
  • SHA-256 hashes only raw email never in bidstream
  • Identity into BeeBid addressable = higher CPM
  • You own the list one-click export, no lock-in

Capture sits inside the article, where a reader who just finished something has a reason to want the next one.

Six capture placements ship; this is one. Every one of them is frequency-capped and A/B testable, because a sign-up prompt that annoys readers costs more than it earns.

Specifications

Full technical specification

Publishers compare specifications, not adjectives. Everything is here, including what depends on partners we do not control.

Capture & consent

Capture & consent
Capture widgets Six placements: inline, exit-intent, scroll-triggered, light content upgrade, topic-follow (shared with BeeEngage) and comment authentication. Frequency-capped per reader and A/B testable through BeeLab.
Consent Double opt-in mandatory — not a toggle. Consent records store timestamp, source widget and scope. GDPR mode available, and consent capture is designed around India's DPDP Act expectations. This is not legal advice — check your own obligations with someone qualified.

Newsletter engine

Newsletter engine
Newsletter composer Article digests auto-assemble from your feed, so a publisher who does not want to write a newsletter still has one. Send-time optimization, optional AMP for email.
Deliverability Guided SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup, with monitoring. One-click unsubscribe honoured instantly and irreversibly — a list you keep people on by friction is a spam complaint waiting to happen.

Monetization & identity

Monetization & identity
Newsletter ad slots Two native slots per issue, always labelled Sponsored, filled by BeeBid demand or by direct-sold local campaigns. Takeover mode gives one advertiser the whole issue. Per-issue RPM reporting.
Identity layer SHA-256 hashed emails only — the raw address never enters the bidstream and never leaves your system. Output is designed to be UID2/EUID-compatible, which is a roadmap integration rather than a shipped one.
Identity scope & reporting Identity is off for readers who did not consent to it, independently of their newsletter consent. A match-rate dashboard shows what share of impressions are addressable and what that is worth against unmatched inventory.
Ownership The list is yours. One-click full export at any time, including consent records. No lock-in, no notice period, no "contact your account manager" step.

Some capabilities depend on third-party approvals and platform policies that are not ours to promise. Where that is the case, the spec above says so explicitly.

Expected difference

+5–10% direct benchmark 1

The direct figure is the newsletter's own inventory. The addressable-CPM premium sits on top of it and is reported separately, because it depends on a match rate you build over months.

+5–10%

Reported direct revenue from monetized newsletters benchmark 1

From the newsletter's own ad slots, independent of the site.

Higher CPM

On addressable impressions versus unmatched ones benchmark 2

Identity-matched inventory is priced differently in a cookieless market.

Never

Times a raw email address enters the bidstream

SHA-256 hashes only, scoped to the consent the reader gave.

Being straight with you: Two things are happening here and they are worth separating. The newsletter revenue is direct, measurable and modest. The identity premium is larger over time but depends on your match rate, on buyer adoption of identity solutions, and on how many of your readers consent — none of which we can promise you in advance. Month one you have neither. The list is the asset, and lists are built slowly.

Questions

BeeMail — frequently asked

You do. It is exportable in full — addresses, consent records, source and timestamps — with one click, any time, with no notice period and no account-manager step. That is a structural promise, the same one that covers your BeePush subscribers and your ad accounts. A partner who can only keep you by holding your list has told you what they are worth.

In plain terms: we run the address through SHA-256, which turns it into a fixed string that cannot be reversed back into the address. Only that string travels to buyers, and only for readers who consented to it. It is not anonymity — a buyer who already has that person's email can compute the same hash and match it, which is exactly how the mechanism is meant to work. What it prevents is your readers' actual addresses being handed around the ad ecosystem.

No. Auto-digest mode assembles an issue from your own feed on whatever schedule you pick, so a publisher with no newsletter writer still has a newsletter. If you do want to write one, the composer is there.

BeeMail is built consent-first: double opt-in is mandatory, consent records are stored with their scope and source, identity signals are separately scoped, and unsubscribe is instant. That is designed around what the DPDP Act expects. It is not legal advice and we are not your lawyers — your obligations depend on your business, and you should check them with someone qualified.

Nothing is generated for them. Identity consent is scoped separately from newsletter consent, so a reader can take your newsletter without becoming an addressable impression. Your match rate will be lower than your list size, and that is correct rather than a bug.
